Why White People Keep Adopting Pit Bulls in the United States (2025): High Empathy, Low Fertility, Loneliness, Ignorance

A while ago I wrote a long-winded piece about the rise of Pit Bulls… arguing that Pit Bulls Should be Banned… along with all related breeds (any Pit or Pit-adjacent mixes)… ChatGPT wouldn’t even have this conversation because it basically took the stance that I was “discriminating” against dogs.
What if alligators were popular pets? Would making an argument that alligators are genetically wired to attack and could be dangerous be “discriminatory” and thus a violation of OpenAI’s policies? Can’t make this shit up. Even if completely good faith… gotta walk on eggshells and walk the woke tightrope.
This specific piece was inspired by some thoughts I had this morning… The rise of Pit Bulls as pets for non-Hispanic White Americans (individuals with primarily European DNA) throughout the U.S. — a cohort that historically gravitated toward other breeds until recent.
Whites are now heavily embracing Pit Bulls and have become a major driver and reinforcer of their ubiquity (~1 in 10 dogs in the U.S. is now a Pit Bull or Pit Mix… likely increasing by the day.)
Why Whites adopt Pitbulls in the U.S.
This is what I think… don’t really care what you think.
1.) Pathological empathy (suicidal empathy)
Gad Saad uses the term “suicidal empathy” to explain how Whites’ disposition toward extreme empathy for outgroups (who don’t have this trait) are importing the destruction of the first-world countries/societies that their ancestors built.
I speculate that Whites (NW Euro DNA) evolved genetically and/or selected for higher rates of empathy (or eradicated many with lower empathy via killings).
I will write a separate piece on how/why Whites (NW Euro DNA) are genetically predisposed to: (1) high median empathy intensity & (2) more right-tail extreme empathy… the intensity and distribution is higher than many other ethnic groups.
This is likely why they are prone to self-loathing, have high suicide rates, and are routinely exploited by non-whites via guilt tripping (i.e. refugees claiming that Whites are evil and they must accept more non-White migrants due to some retarded historical colonization argument).
The non-whites lower in empathy (devoid of suicidal empathy extremes) now have the adaptive advantage (move into White countries and overpower them with votes, in-group bias, and attempt to make them feel guilty).
An adjacent concept applies to Whites interacting with Pits. Pitbulls are often abandoned in the streets by certain racial demographics and socioeconomic demographics (often going hand-in-hand).
Pits have larger litters than most other dogs too… and the non-White groups drawn to Pits tend to not really take care of them (spaying/neutering) or think it’s cool to breed more of them… you end up with a bunch roaming the streets.
Now large city shelters are dominated by Pits… and who jumps in to rescue the Pits? Cue the “Adopt Don’t Shop” T-Shirts worn by some woke vegans. Cue some heartbreaking commercial with dogs suffering (these are just awful… I feel terrible for suffering dogs… but doesn’t mean we need more Pits roaming.)
Rather than just putting Pits out of their misery to keep society safe… Whites’ pathological empathy/guilt works against them. Many instinctively feel drawn to help out Pits… then damn, it mauls their niece
Even though I’d never get one… seeing them suffer does evoke an emotional sense of discomfort and empathy. So I understand where these people are coming from.
2.) Egalitarianism views of canines (rejection of genetic dispositions)
Whites seem to have evolved to reject belief in genetic determinism for the most part (this is a common human trait).
It’s not bad to believe that genetics are not the primary driver of life outcomes (it’s psychologically beneficial to think you’ve been in full control)… but it’s blatantly inaccurate.
If only those Pits had a good environment… they’d be great dogs.
It’s the owner NOT the breed!
Free will matters the most.
I can fix them!
You see this with people thinking that if we allow infinity migrants and just give them some combination of: (1) better nutrition and (2) better education and (3) similar opportunities… they can “do what I did!”
“You just gotta work hard — anyone can do it!” (I’ll take Richard Feynman propaganda for $1000).
People love their genetic advantages but don’t think of them as genetic advantages. Always been skinny/fit? I just eat fruits and veggies and do cardio! Aced tests without effort? It’s not my genetic IQ it’s just efficient studying!
Rejection of belief in genetic determinism extends to dogs… they think all their advantageous traits are mostly earned from habits (again… likely healthy to think this way for sake of ego preservation… but detached from reality).
So they think if their pitbull is in a “good environment” or home… he’ll be a good dog. Genetics? Irrelevant. He just needs a good home, good training… genetic dispositions be damned!
Note: I’ll eventually try to write a piece on deterioration of genetic advantages in humans… and this is making some people very mad. You can observe this with how many thin/fit people are triggered by obese people losing a ton of weight on Ozempic. You’re also seeing high IQ’s triggered by AI overtaking their cognitive abilities (in certain ways).
3.) Lower marriage rates, lower fertility rates… higher loneliness
Pet ownership is booming in the U.S. as a result of higher loneliness downstream from difficulties finding a significant other (higher female choosiness), lower marriage rates, and lower fertility (fewer White women having kids)… the dogs help fill a void.
Women are now more advantaged than men and elevated by society beyond what would be possible with pure free market forces and merit. (Special funds/initiatives just for women, requirements that certain jobs/institutions take at least 50% women, HR department geared towards hiring more women, etc.).
As a result, women are out-educating men and opting to stay single. They also have unlimited options of desperate/thirsty simps on dating apps (it’s like a buffet for them)… Paradox of Choice.
As a result of this phenomenon (not wanting to marry down, out-performing men, special unearned/non-meritocratic favoritism, abundance mindset) coupled with excellent social support networks (other women)… women stay single and men are thus forced to stay single.
Marriage rates are lower than ever… and continue declining each decade. Holding out for the perfect partner or until finishing college, etc. is common. This leads to higher loneliness (even more so for men)… no significant other, no spouse, no kids… coping mechanism is often “get a dog!”
Woke egalitarian marketing is often geared towards women and they fall for it hook-line-sinker. Genetics don’t matter as much as the environment/owner! Anyone who says otherwise is just racist!
And many White women without kids and lonely White guys end up feeling bad and adopting from a shelter… Women are more likely than men to adopt (perhaps higher empathy or heart-string tugging)… and their choices at the shelters? A lotta Pits.
In sum… women have dating abundance and society makes life easier for them than men with sex-based quotas, government initiatives/handouts, etc. — and now they’re on top of the U.S. food chain (they don’t want to “date down” in status)… are sifting through infinity guys on dating apps… and have so many choices many just stay single; social support networks for women are typically strong.
Once they get a dog or multiple dogs… it fills some of the motherly void… and it may lead them to not even wanting kids.
4.) Social contagion (Word of Mouth)
Given the sheer prevalence of White pitbull owners… many know someone with a pitbull now who “had a good experience.” And when they spend time with that person and around his/her dog… they are like Wow! Great dog! Never hurt a flea!
Then they think they should maybe adopt one because there are so many at the shelters and they could use a companion.
Some women think along the lines of: “My bestie has a pit and he’s such a good protector from creepy guys!” I’ve personally seen a lot of single women who have massive Pits that they walk (more like the Pits are walking them) each day after work.
No denying that many love their Pits (White males included)… not all Pits end up mauling kids walking home from the bus stop after school or chomp the jugulars of the local Amazon delivery driver on accident.
Since a majority of experiences with Pitbulls are decent… and many people know someone with a Pit… it reinforces overall virality of Pit ownership and the idea that owning Pits is cool (everyone is doing it!).
5.) Ignorance of dangers
The wool is firmly pulled over the eyes.
Wolf in sheep’s clothing? Nah just a sheep… or just a wolf that can be tamed with smart ownership. (I’m a good owner… those other owners — in the out-group — they’re the bad owners!)
Most haven’t bothered doing an iota of research on behavioral tendencies/dispositions of pitbulls.
News often obfuscates breeds whenever there’s an attack… Reddit tells everyone the dangers are overblown/exaggerated! Anecdotes over data.
A smaller subset: Low IQ, “Tough Guy”, Psychopathy
There has always been a subset of Whites that fit into the “street” x “gangsta” x “hood” camp… usually tatted to the gills (neck/face), talking with heavy slang, vaping, drinking, part-time-rapping, etc. who will get Pit bulls because they look “so ‘tuff” (yeah they spell tough like that).
This maps well with other racial cohorts of lower socioeconomic statuses like Blacks and Hispanics (dog fighting, looking “hard”, protection from rival gangs, wanting attention, etc.).
There is a strong link between pitbull ownership and antisocial behaviors (and by “antisocial” we do NOT mean “not socializing”); yes this is a vicious dog breed.
Antisocial behaviors are things like: ignoring right/wrong; telling lies to take advantage of others; using charm/wit to manipulate; having a sense of superiority; hostility/aggression; etc.
So you get the antisocial trait humans attracted to pitbulls and “bully” breeds to maintain a tough image… GTA vibes. The owners are aggressive, the dogs are aggressive, and it creates a disastrous feedback loop (aggressive demeanors of Pits amplified/maximized as a result of these types of owners).
Summing up my hypothesis: Why American Whites keep adopting Pitbulls
Pathological empathy/altruism (We’ve gotta help!): Many focus on shelter dogs because they feel bad or even guilty for letting them stay there. Empathy/altruism fuels the proliferation of Pits.
Rejection of genetic determinism (It’s the OWNER not the breed!): Most Whites don’t know jack shit about genetics and think life is all free will. Any traits that are favorable that they happen to have? In their mind it’s because they worked hard and/or made good choices. Skinny? Oh I just eat less/move more. Women with appealing asses? I just do squats (even though it looked like that before they ever went to the gym). High IQ? I just read a lot — you can master astrophysics in 3 months… just get some agency bro! All you need is AgEnCy! (It’s evolutionarily healthy to think you’re in control of your destiny… but it’s not what’s actually happening). They extend this “nurture over nature” to Pits.
Low fertility rates/single women (He’s my baby! I feel so protected now!): Empathy that would’ve gone to raising kids is now redirected toward shelter animals (Pits happen to be the most common in shelters). Mechanism to channel motherly love for women.
Social contagion (My friend got one and loves her Pit! You should too! They’re awesome!): Word spreads. There are entire communities on Wokeddit (Reddit) dedicated to Pitbulls… (don’t you dare be a bigot or dog-racist!).
Ignorance of danger(s): Most are completely oblivious to risk/statistics re: pitbulls. In fact, many think that “dangers” associated with pits are nothing more than propaganda. Why? Their friend has a pitbull and he’s so sweet to them etc. Their personal experiences trump data… just like traveling through war-torn countries (“Nothing Ever Happens”… until it does). Most do not realize how risky Pits are relative to other breeds.
Is there a solution for the rise of Pitbulls?
Yes… but sadly the U.S. lacks appetite to address the invasive-species-esque spread of Pitbulls and Pit mixes.
Given the population surge in Hispanics (a large voting bloc that gravitates toward “tough looking” breeds and associated with poorer care for dogs/more strays — ON AVERAGE: not all Hispanics you retard!) — we should expect Pits to continue their proliferation (just look at Mexico & LatAm and Hispanic-dominant cities in the U.S.).
Pits inflict outsized damage to: (1) people (owners, children, etc.) and (2) other animals (pets, wildlife, etc.).
Absolute rates of serious attacks and damage are relatively low… but compared to other dog breeds they are insanely high.
I don’t think it’s unreasonable to request that we decrease the Pitbull/Pit-mix population in a gradual phase out strategy… allowing them only for people with special training/permits.
Otherwise we need such harsh consequences for attacks (e.g. rapid death penalty for any Pit owner who’s Pitbull severely injures/maims or kills another person — especially a child) that people have the Fear of God in them if they own a Pit.
I’d also be fine with harsh penalties if Pits kill someone else’s pet (massive fines for the owner and harsh beatings or something like they do in Singapore).
Important: Pit attack rates would likely be significantly higher if people didn’t routinely make a concerted effort to minimize/avoid exposure to Pits. Many people see Pits and/or owners and deliberately avoid/reroute… why take a chance of getting attacked/mauled on your daily stroll?
With the illegals pouring across the border… Californiazation, Miamification, Houstonification, etc. trends will continue… Hispanic/Latino proliferation means more pitbulls… and adjacent “tough looking” bully breeds.
(Some sources estimate that up to 1 in 4 dogs in Mexico are Pit or Pit mix… but Mexico isn’t really known for collecting quality data… likely higher.)
Pathetically, even the MSM is now sometimes afraid to name the breed in dog attack headlines… (“Oh no! We don’t want to be perceived as potentially racist against canines!”) that we see headlines obfuscating the breed in dog attack news… “Dog Attack”… gee I wonder what breed it could’ve been. Head scratcher.
Continue reading and we find out that the postal worker was *allegedly attacked by a black and white pitbull*… *allegedly* we can’t know for sure. Could’ve been a Yorkie or Golden Retriever… those Yorkies are vicious!
Okay then Drew, what are your solutions?
Trump could pass an executive order pledging to phase out all Pits/Pit mixes and end the suffering and clean up all stray dogs in the streets, crack down harsher on pet owners, crack down on breeders, etc.
Operation No More Strays! Operation Free Up Shelter Resources! Crack down on owners to ensure they are taking care of their dog. Require all new Pit and/or Pit mix owners to pass some sort of education class. Or shift incentives… any violent Pit attack charges the owner as harshly as possible for the damage.
Am hopeful in some sort of robotic dogs taking the place of Pits in the future… maybe people will settle for “tough” canine-bots.
And hopefully a combo of embryo selection and gene therapies to boost IQ in all populations eventually reduce the retarded Pitbull trend. Otherwise we remain on track for real-life Idiocracy (prophetic movie).
